Hey, my name is Josh.

In case you don’t know me, I’m a performance specialist, content creator and self-improvement addict. I help entrepreneurs and creators get more out of themselves, their work & their businesses.

I’ve wanted to start a locals for a while now, but here’s why I’m finally executing this.

When I’m creating something — whether it be writing, filming or editing — there are all sorts of cuts, moments and behind the scenes materials that never see the light of day, but should.

Back in 2021, I experimented with using my second channel to share deleted scenes, bloopers and BTS action to try and remedy this, but there were significant challenges such as the following:

-I was at the mercy of a subjective algorithm with content that wasn’t built for an algorithm
-the visibility on YouTube is complicated and can be straight up garbage at reaching existing subscribers
-what should’ve been exclusive content, was way too easily available for people outside of my core audience, who lacked the required context to understand or appreciate what was being shared
-I was at the mercy of a platform with strict rules and could delete all I’ve worked on for any reason, at any point in time

As I crafted my last few videos, it’s been painfully obvious that a new solution was needed. I was reminded of how many photos/videos collect dust on my hard drive, how many cool edits get completely scrapped and how many useful thoughts are never shared. And while some things are better off not being shared, I subscribe to the creative idea of “killing my darlings”, which means there’s a lot that gets cut that never so the light of day, but I think you’ll find find valuable, interesting and entertaining.

So, I started this Locals to share all this and more.

I wanted to create a private community where we aren’t dependent on an algorithm, you can actually see what I publish, and I can say things I’m not able to say on censorship-heavy platforms like YouTube. I intend for this to be a place where I can casually post all sorts of content, and for those who are deepest in my ecosystem to connect with me and my vision deeper.

As with all things, this is an ever-evolving experiment for me, so the value proposition will likely change over time as I get a better feel for my locals strategy and work to upgrade your experience.
